This happened to me too a few days ago, too. Though I ascribed it to the fact that I was trying to delete the versions of the photos I’d already uploaded so I could re-upload new versions of the files which had been brightened a little. It also spawned duplicates and re-ordered the pictures on the observation. I tried deleting the app (iOS) and reinstalled, but it kept happening, so then I gave up and fixed my observation on the desktop browser. I figured it just couldn’t handle the same file names, so it’s interesting to hear you might not have had that confounding variable.

Same - iPad iOS crashes if I delete a photo from an existing observation. I have a screen video showing it, if that is of interest. And, the photo I attempted to delete is still on the observation.

There’s an existing bug report for this: https://forum.inaturalist.org/t/deleting-photo-from-observation-crashes-app/36097 I just changed it’s title to make it a little more clear.

Closing this topic to focus discussion on the existing bug report.
