Is there a way to create a list of observations rather than taxa?

I want to create a list of observations rather than taxa. Is there a way to do this?

I thought about using a project, but it’s a list just for me (It’s actually to collect photos I want to use for embroidery designs!)

Is there a way to make a project private? Or maybe tag observations then search for them?

Any ideas?

if it’s just to collect photos, you can always just create a bookmark in your browser. for example: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations?id=260312148,334618353.

this should work for 500 or so observations. if you want to do more than that, you’d have to create multiple URL bookmarks.

If you make a list of the taxa, in the list, you can add a note or comment to each taxon. I’ve been known to paste the web addresses of observations I like under their taxa, and then you can keep up with them.

You could add them to your favorites.

That’s neat, I didn’t know it. I would use a tag, though. The only thing is, it has to be something easily remembered, because you don’t have a list with tags used and sufficiently different so the search doesn’t find the word in comments or place names.

As far as I know, though, you can’t tag other people’s observations, only your own – or am I misunderstanding what you’re suggesting?

You can restrict projects so that only you can add observations to them, but you can’t stop other people from seeing what is in them. You could add observation fields to other people’s observations, but some people don’t allow that.

You can also string together observation IDs in a URL like this: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations?id=333078010,332793838,333076857

Thanks for the ideas, everyone. I thought there might be a simple way to make lists of observations (more than the one list created by tagging favourites), but it seems like there isn’t one. I don’t want to clog up the system creating more projects than are needed. I think I’ll just bookmark the pages like @pisum suggested.
