Today I visited the page for Trachinus draco at the following URL: https://www.inaturalist.org/taxa/118652-Trachinus-draco. The date of the most recent observation listed there is June 2, 2025. However, I uploaded an observation myself on June 5, 2025, which would be more recent. My observation is also marked as “Research Grade,” so the issue is not due to insufficient identification accuracy.
welcome to the forum
do you have a place filter on where I’ve drawn the arrow?
because for me it shows the last observation as June 13
Yes, you’re right, but that only changes the nature of the bug, because the filter was set to “Europe” and my observation was in Europe (Gran Canaria).
there is no bug here, Gran Canaria is not included within ‘Europe’ on iNat
you can check this by going to your observation and expanding the details to see the places under which your record is included. Europe is not there
I think I’ve understood the principle: geographically, Gran Canaria belongs to Africa, regardless of its political affiliation with Spain. That’s why it’s excluded when using the “Europe” filter, but included under “Africa.”
correct. Similar to eg records in French Guiana, they would not be indexed as within Europe
Thank you very much for the lightning-fast response and clarification. Overall, you’re all doing an amazing job with this project!
