List statistic appears to incorrectly indicate observed species

I am not sure if this is a bug or if I just misunderstand what this statistic means. Either way, thank you for any advice.

Description of problem (please provide a set of steps we can use to replicate the issue, and make as many as you need.):

  • I created a list. I have observed some, but not all of the species on the list.
  • I viewed the statistics for the list. It says 0/52 observed, which is incorrect.
  • I hard refresh (F5) the page. This does not solve the issue.
  • This occurs on both of my non-automatic lists and does not appear to be affected by whether observations were made before or after the creation of the list.
  • If taxa can or must be marked as observed manually I do not know how to do that.

The short answer is that lists just aren’t being updated any more, so the numbers will never update to be correct unfortunately

you can see which taxa from the list you’ve observed by viewing some variant of this: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations?list_id=4498435&subview=table&user_id=pirarucu&view=species.

there’s some related discussion along these lines here and in similar threads: https://forum.inaturalist.org/t/compare-lists-to-see-what-i-should-look-for/60472.
