Description of problem:
Step 1: Create an query for export that includes a project with observation field “Interaction->Visited flower of:” https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/export?verifiable=true&page=1&spam=false&d1=2025-06-30&d2=2025-07-01&place_id=any&user_id=&projects=pollinator-interactions-on-plants-pip-of-the-ne-us
Project: https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/pollinator-interactions-on-plants-pip-of-the-ne-us
Relevant field: “Interaction->Visited flower of:”
Step 2: Check the corresponding box under “Observation Fields for Projects” to include that field in the export (see screenshot)
Do not also check the box for the same field under “Observation Fields”
Step 3: Click Create Export
Expectation: export will include column for this field with data. List of exports (Step 4) will include this field among those requested.
Observation: Export data does not contain corresponding column. List of exports gives no indication that this field was requested
Workaround: If you check the same box under “Observation Fields” - it works fine. But it took me a couple hours of experimentation to figure this out.
I haven’t checked if other fields are affected or just this one.
