Description of problem (please provide a set of steps we can use to replicate the issue, and make as many as you need.):

A few days ago I created a place (Yaghnob Valley) and a project (Yaghnob Project) and began adding observations to it. I’ve added observations from my personal account, and created a new account for my organization, Plateau Perspectives, to add camera trap observations. However, none of the Plateau Perspectives observations are showing up in the Yaghnob Project.

At first, I had set all camera trap image geoprivacy settings to “Obscure location,” but when nothing was showing up in the project, I changed them all to open geoprivacy and set them at the park headquarters with a 25km radius. That radius encompasses all the camera traps, but does also take in some areas that are outside the boundaries of the Yaghnob Valley location I have created.

I tried to manually add all Plateau Perspectives observations by selecting “Yaghnob Project” in the “Projects: Add to a project” on each individual observation, but “Yaghnob Project” never populates and so there is no way to do so. I cannot manually add Plateau Perspectives observations to the project either from the Plateau Perspectives account, or from my account (my account is the project administrator).

So how do I get Plateau Perspectives observations to appear in the Yaghnob Project?

You can’t manually add observations because it is a collection project. And if any part of the accuracy circle is outside the boundaries of the place, they won’t be collected.

Perhaps you need a traditional project, so that the observations can all be added manually.

Okay, so after searching the forum without finding answers and going through all the trouble of posting, I came across this post which somehow wasn’t one of the suggested similar posts.

Yaghnob Project isn’t autopopulating because collection projects can’t autopopulate.

And as for why observations aren’t automatically being added to the project, it appears the 25km radius for images is the problem. The help article that’s linked to in that post simply says, “Note that observations with a large accuracy circle, or with a geoprivacy of Obscured or Private, may not appear in small Places.”

So my followup question is: what is the maximum radius of accuracy circle required to allow an observation to be automatically added to a collection project?

It has to be completely within the boundaries of the place.

Thanks for the reply! I’ll look at either adjusting the radius or just starting a traditional project instead.
