Platform: Samsung mobile

Browser, if a website issue: tried both Samsung internet and Ecosia

Description of problem: adding observation (not mine) to a project is rejected. Earlier this morning and yesterday this was a non-issue. Applies even if observer allows observations to be added by others/to projects they aren’t part of. It adds it at first, but then it disappears.

Step 1: I tried multiple observations to see if that was the issue.

Step 2: I tried multiple browsers (both on mobile) to see if that was the issue.

Update:

I also tried more than one project, same issue.

Basically, when you go to add it on that side widget it shows up for a second and then disappears.

Wonder if this has to do with the larger problem of the IDs not sticking correctly (see e.g. https://forum.inaturalist.org/t/ids-not-showing-up-but-id-of-observation-changing/75454/3)

Ya, seeing that. Also saw some reports of things popping up to RG without IDs.

Thinking there might be a bug somewhere on the algorithm that dictates user interactions/edits. There seems to be a pattern right now.

I just had that same issue too! I tried to add an observation that wasn’t mine to a project. I was able to add the observation field, but the project wouldn’t “stick“.

Update: I went back and checked the observation (linked below) and found that the project that I had previously tried to add is now there. Seems like things might be back to normal?

Update: this SEEMS to be working now. Knock on wood.

Please include URLs of observations and the specific names of projects.

I was just able to add and then remove this observation to/from this project.
