Removing observations from projects

I often come across projects that include observations that no longer fit the criteria for being included.

For example, there was an observation with a butterfly on a flower where some people were IDing the butterfly, and another person who didn’t see the butterfly ID’d the flower it was resting on instead. Even though the observer wanted the observation to be of the butterfly and the person who ID’d it as a flower has since changed their identification to honour that, the post is now included under the project “Unknown / Theaceae” despite not being applicable

Similarly, many observations remain tagged as belonging to the project “pre-maverick” even though they now have full consensus

Is there a reason why we make it difficult for users to add and remove observations from projects once they’ve been added?

The inability for project members (vs. project managers, curators, and admin) to add or remove observations from a project is a setting they’ve chosen, so you can reach out to the users coordinating those projects to ask them about it.

Gotcha, thanks for explaining how it works

Are they your own obs ? - then you can click Remove from Project.

The yellow label project obs remain in the project for statistical purposes.

Pre-Maverick project is run every 6 months, and has just started a new run. Resolved obs will be automagically removed.
