Suggestions tab shows the wrong taxon and location

Please fill out the following sections to the best of your ability, it will help us investigate bugs if we have this information at the outset. Screenshots are especially helpful, so please provide those if you can.

Platform (Android, iOS, Website): Website

App version number, if a mobile app issue (shown under Settings or About):

Browser, if a website issue (Firefox, Chrome, etc) : Firefox

URLs (aka web addresses) of any relevant observations or pages: Identify page - any catching multiple taxa

Screenshots of what you are seeing (instructions for taking a screenshot on computers and mobile devices: https://www.take-a-screenshot.org/):

Description of problem (please provide a set of steps we can use to replicate the issue, and make as many as you need.):

Step 1: Open the Identify page.

Step 2: Agree with an observation directly on the page.

Step 3: Immediately look at an observation of a different species in the Identify pane.

Step 4: Go straight to the ‘Suggestions’ tab (I have it default to ‘Observations’ rather than ‘Visually Similar’).

Step 5: It will often start trying to show observations of the correct taxon and place for this observation, but then switch to the taxon of the observation ‘Agreed’ in Step 2. As for place, well, it seems to be a mix - often matches the place of the previous observation but not always (I just came across one which didn’t seem to match either place - very odd). Occasionally it just gets stuck and shows nothing until I switch tabs and come back to it.

It doesn’t always happen, but it happens often enough to be quite annoying. I have found it doesn’t seem to happen if I wait long enough before going to the Suggestions tab - but the time varies. I suspect it happens most often when Firefox is running slowly, so maybe it’s really all my fault…

As far as I know it’s a known issue and I agree, it’s annoying…

Yeah, happens to me from time to time. Not consistently, though, and not often. Without consistent replicable conditions will be difficult to fix.

Fair enough. I have it happen pretty consistently, but I understand that if others can’t consistently replicate it, fixing is difficult. Do I just leave it open in case, or what? (I’ve never submitted a bug report before.)
