Please fill out the following sections to the best of your ability, it will help us investigate bugs if we have this information at the outset. Screenshots are especially helpful, so please provide those if you can.

Platform (Android, iOS, Website): Android

Browser, if a website issue (Firefox, Chrome, etc) :

URLs (aka web addresses) of any relevant observations or pages:

Screenshots of what you are seeing (instructions for taking a screenshot on computers and mobile devices: https://www.take-a-screenshot.org/):

Description of problem (please provide a set of steps we can use to replicate the issue, and make as many as you need.):

I made an observation and it spawned 52+ copies of itself. Syncing does not offer a cancel option, only pause and continue, so that might be a helpful feature. This has only happened once and I disabled the “auto sync” function in the settings after.

Step 1: Make observation, click check mark confirming

Step 2: Observation has been created, close app

Step 3: Open app again

Step 4: Observation automatically “syncs” 52+ copies of previous observation

if you haven’t already, you probably should send a log file from the app to the iNaturalist staff so that they can get a better understanding of what might have happened here. in the Android app, go to the About screen, and tap the section that has the version number 3 times. that will initiate a process to e-mail the log files to help@inaturalist.org.
