Description of problem: I have OAuth email linked to my iNat forum profile. I am using my iNaturalist main website profile to login to the iNat forums. The user profile name and my email address are the same on both iNat and iNat forums.

When trying to enable two factor authentication on iNat forum via my profile page, I get the message that trying to set it up in the forums with my regular iNat password does not work.

However, I can use the same username/pwd info to log in and out of the main iNat website just fine.

Is this an OAuth thing? Or maybe a protonmail thing?
Do I need to log out of both the phone app and the iNat app to set up 2 factor auth?

My adblocker is disabled and I am using a password manager so I am not typing it wrong.

Thanks for any help.

Hi,
I had the same problem. I noticed it happens in my case, only with non-Google browsers. I had the same problem with both Edge and Firefox. However, with Chrome, Chromium, Vivaldi, and Opera, the problem doesn’t arise, as “0Auth” was developed for Google by Google and seems to require authentication components not present in the Firefox Foundation browser.
For iNat, I use Vivaldi Browser.
.
For two-factor authentication I use my infomaniak (dot) com email package, including its authenticator, which also works with Yubico security keys, and I manage passwords with Bitwarden.

iNat Forum and iNaturalist accounts are separate. Click the “forgot password” link to reset your password on the forum and try again.
