Unable to add annotation to a sighting

For some reason I am unable to add a life stage annotation to this sighting - when I attempt to add an annotation of ā€˜adultā€™, it loads for a bit and then just disappears without adding anything. In the identify window, itā€™s just stuck on continuously loading:

The same happens when I try to add any life stafe annotation, but the other three annotation categories work normally. Iā€™ve messed with the DQA to try to reindex the sighting and I still have the same problem, so I donā€™t think itā€™s that. Any ideas?

Also tried. Cannot. Weird.
Can add all the Other Annotations, but not Life Stage.
??

I tried agreeing with a few annotations and DQAs to see if that made a difference, but still I couldnā€™t add life stage either.

Wow, I canā€™t either.

Definitely seeing errors in the web console. Iā€™ve let our developers know.

I just tried again and was able to now.

Yeah, so what happened here was that the observation was originally IDed as a mantis and annotated as nymph. The mantis ID ended up being deleted and now itā€™s in lepidoptera, so nymph was hidden but it was still there, blocking any new Life Stage annotation. We removed nymph for this observation which fixed the problem for the individual observation, but not the underlying issue overall, which weā€™ll investigate a fix for.

Hidden annotations are confusing - it is there, but we canā€™t see what, or who.

@tiwane any update on an ETA for this issue? A lot of would-be annotations are missing as a result.

No ETA.

As in youā€™re not able to add annotations to certain observations?

Correct; there are hundreds of insect larva observations the past week or so that I would have annotated as Larva but was unable to due to a pre-existing Juvenile annotation value.

Hereā€™s another that wonā€™t accept Life Stage annotations:

And another:

(Tried to do another reply with this, but apparently 3 are the limit.)

The underlying cause is understood, so more examples arenā€™t necessary.

I would like to be able to add annotations to them though. Is it likely they will be fixed, or will they have to stay without life-stage annotations forever?

I was looking in the project ALL YOUR GALLS ARE BELONG TO US and found that lots of fruiting bodies of fungi are being annotated with evidence of presence = gall. Iā€™ve been disagreeing with the annotation, until I found one whose annotations are hidden due to ā€œNo Relevant Annotationsā€ https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/119965191
I have a feeling this isnā€™t the only one, is there a fix for this? Thanks

(Edit - just found another: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/111923753)

Itā€™s likely they will be fixed, but I donā€™t know when.

I suspect this is becuase at one point I added more restrictions to which taxa can be annotated with Gall and the system isnā€™t dealing with these new restrictions well. Iā€™ve let our developers know.

Thank you

Platform: Website (Chrome), Android app

Description of problem:
I was going through insects of Europe with annotation of ā€œlife stageā€ set to ā€œjuvenileā€ trying to narrow down the IDs using this URL:
https://www.inaturalist.org/observations?place_id=97391&taxon_id=47158&term_id=1&term_value_id=8

When I narrow down the ID, the annotation of life stage disappears and there becomes available a new value for either ā€œnymphā€ or ā€œlarvaā€. Then I try to set the life stage annotation to nymph (or larva, or whatever value) but it goes back to blank - this is the problem. It cannot be set on the Android app either.

The following are just some of the observations that cannot be annotated for life stage anymore:
