website is currently down for me could that be why?

Perhaps, but it started after the scheduled downtime yesterday, and before it went down just now!

Is it working now?

Unfortunately, no it isn’t. :-(

possibly another instance of https://forum.inaturalist.org/t/cv-suggestions-stop-appearing-in-observation-posting-workflow/77264?

Yes, that seems to be the same issue I am having. I don’t upload in bulk, always one observation at a time, and this has never happened to me before. I tried different images, but it’s the same with all. As some said in the post you linked, everything else works fine, but I have some I need help with, and the suggestions help me to put an ID on it. I’ll check into some of the work-arounds mentioned in the post, but it may take some time. Thanks for replying!

if you can consistently reproduce the error, maybe the way to approach troubleshooting is to have one of the dev ops guys look at what’s happening on the server when you make your request. that might be the fastest way to figure out what’s going on, but it would require some coordination with iNat staff.

if your situation is the same as in the other report, all you would be able to see is that the server returns 401 unauthorized, but the dev ops guys might be able to see why the server deemed you as unauthorized.

if you have a VPN and aren’t using it during the upload process, i wonder what would happen if you tried the upload / suggestion process going through the VPN (or another connection)?

Okay, thanks. How do I go about arranging to have a dev ops person work with me? I’d like to get back to uploading my observations!

You can submit a ticket. I think the most important thing for us would for you to let us know exactly when you made the attempt(s) (and your time zone) so we can take a look in our log files.

Thanks…will do shortly!

HA! I was getting ready to submit a ticket, and it just started working again! Much weirdness, but I’m happy now. I hope it keeps working, and I appreciate your willingness to help!
