Sometimes taxon changes are drafted but are later abandoned, oftentimes due to discussion on the taxon change itself. This dicussion can contain important information which is helpful to preserve, so we don’t want to delete it. But an uncommited taxon change adds a banner to a taxon’s page, which is not great.
So we’ve added functionality that allows an uncommitted (aka “draft”) taxon change to be withdrawn. This preserves the taxon change and related discussion, and removes the banner from the taxon page.
To withdraw an uncommitted taxon change:
- Go to the draft taxon change
- Click on Edit
- At the bottom of the edit page, click on Withdraw
On the Taxon Changes page, you can now filter for withdrawn taxon changes in the Status menu:
