Try using inaturalist.org the upload button is there in Firefox.
uk.inaturalist.org : I cannot get into that site from Firefox, it just endlessly loops at the cloudflare verification page. I tried Edge: there I can get to the page even though the cloudflare page takes very long. The upload button appears on Edge and it on clicking takes me to the upload page. @phma were you on the UK page?
your screen is smaller than the page expects. recently, the iNat overseers began testing some new mobile-friendly dynamic layouts for various pages, and you may want to opt into that test. try going into your account settings, and under the Account section, look for a Test Groups section. join the mobile-friendly mode test, and then refresh the page. you should get a new layout that should work better on your small screen.
if you’re not willing to opt into the test or the option isn’t availabe, i think your only other option for now is to decrease the size of the elements on your screen. i’m not sure how Apple handles that sort of setting, but i would expect therre to maybe be a display zoom setting or maybe a display text size setting. alternatively, maybe the browser itself has a zoom setting.
Thanks for the report! This is actually a bug introduced yesterday caused by a change that was supposed to remove the upload button on smaller phone screens to prevent the header from overflowing. As a unintended side-effect it removes the button whenever the header goes off the screen, which can be at larger screen sizes. As @pisum mentioned, joining the mobile-friendly mode test group helps this, because it reduces the chances of the header going off screen. However, the bug still exists in that test group at a small range of widths.
While the button is missing, if you click on your profile in the drop-down menu there is an ‘add observations’ option that’s not there when you’re accessing via a laptop or desktop.
Looks like since the screen is not the right size to display everything it moves the ‘add observation’ option to that menu instead.
Thanks for the bug report and solution all! I’m on a weird set up where one monitor renders in one dpi and another in standard. Just needed to decrease my zoom with ctrl±.
