what you’re describing sounds a bit like what i described over at https://forum.inaturalist.org/t/how-to-refresh-map-to-show-observations/25339/17. there, the issue was that the map would fail to display the observation markers, whereas you reported that the page would freeze altogether.
i can’t reproduce your issue though. so i’m not sure what you tell you.
