App won't load after attempting update - concern about losing observations not uploaded from phone

Please fill out the following sections to the best of your ability, it will help us investigate bugs if we have this information at the outset. Screenshots are especially helpful, so please provide those if you can.

Platform ( iOS):

App version number, if a mobile app issue (shown under Settings or About): 3.2.6

Browser, if a website issue (Firefox, Chrome, etc) : safari

URLs (aka web addresses) of any relevant observations or pages:

Screenshots of what you are seeing (instructions for taking a screenshot on computers and mobile devices: https://www.take-a-screenshot.org/):

Description of problem (please provide a set of steps we can use to replicate the issue, and make as many as you need.):

Step 1: app crashes immediately when clicked - doesn’t load

Step 2: need to know where observations are stored on phone to recover

Step 3: found allotment of storage in iCloud for iNat but can’t tell if that includes observations not yet uploaded.

In cases like this, deleting and reinstalling the app is usually the only fix, unfortuantely.

Anything that you posted to iNat is safe, so anything you see here: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations?place_id=any&user_id=scotthudson&verifiable=any But anything that has not been uploaded will be lost. Do you still have the original photos?

Thanks for your speedy reply, Tony! Just was hoping for an alternative before trying the nuclear solution. Yes, I still have the photos. Sadly, it’s a lot of observations, time consuming to reconstruct.

Object Lesson: Close the app before attempting an app update. This problem occurred when I was uploading observations, had “iNat update now” pop up on screen, and clicked okay during an upload. Never had a problem with other updates, but this one created some discomfort.
