iNaturalist Next losing audio records after latest update

Platform: iNaturalist Next (iOS 18.3.2, iNaturalis Next version 0.59.13 (156) on iPhone 11)

After recently updating the iNaturalist Next app I have tried to submit some audio records of birds. I record the audio fine and add my identification. I click upload now and lock my phone to continue my walk. When I reopen my phone the audio file is gone and the record is now casual. This doesnt appear to be a case with photo observations as thes records and evidence are saved ready for uplaod in the app.

Step 1: record audio observation, click uplaod now and close app before fully uploaded

Step 2: reopen app later

Step 3: audio record is now missing the audio file and is therefore casual as there is no associated evidence

Thank-you tiwane, I also had the same issue with a photo observation yesterday, so it appear to be common to both audio and photo observations.

thanks, someone else wrote in to us wiht the photo issue as well.

Hi tiwane, has there been anymore developments on this, I just had it happen again which is hasn’t done for a while.

Can confirm it happened to me as well just now, though it hasn’t happened to me before.

This has been fixed in the latest update, 1.0.21 (212), which hit the App Store yesterday. It happened when an observation with a sound was being uploaded, then the upload stopped due to a dropped connection, the user closing the app, the user locking the screen, etc. Shouldn’t happen any longer.
