No application form on the Curator application page

I’ve applied before, long time ago but received no confirmatory email.

Trying again now and I see no application form on the page.

Guess I’ll never know

I don’t remember where the link to the application used to be included, but it still works:

https://www.inaturalist.org/curator_applications/new

Thanks Thomas

That’s the page I was looking at.

It ends with a yellow box containing “In order to apply to be a site curator you must have had an account for 60 days or more, you must have added at least 5 flags, and you must have added 100 improving identifications to anyone’s observations, including your own (you’ve added 1999). When you’ve met those requirements, return here and you’ll be able to submit the application.”

I’ve yet to figure out what is meant by flags

Flagging is used to raise issues for curators to look at. Typically this involves flagging content, such as photos for copyright infringement, or taxa, such as a genus that needs a new species to be added. It looks like you have actually already added two such flags. If you want to become a curator to edit the taxonomy, then just find 3 more taxonomic issues to flag. You can do this from the taxon page by selecting Curation —> Flag for Curation.

Looking at our records, I see you applied in October of 2022. I replied a few days later asking for some concrete examples. I then sent another email with a screenshot of that original reply, showing that I had replied to the application.

A notoriously unreliable means of messaging. Investigating the reasons why it occasionally fails is surely beyond our capabilities.

Examples of volunteer work by means of a forum then:

Others such as ResearchGate and iNaturalist projects simply by searching for my name; I’ll resist the temptation to egosurf.

Hopefully others will continue to get through via email - until something better comes along.

Good hunting
