Thoughts on iNat Next lagging

As I have been using iNat Next lots this year, I have noticed that the app lags so much and is very hard to use due to the slowness. Therefore, I decided to delete the app and just use the old basic iNat app but might redownload it later to see that helps the issue. I am wondering if anyone else is experiencing this or any advice for this.

I still use the app, but it’s extremely frustrating. I do resort to the old app occasionally. I would personally like to know how the community can contribute to solving the problem of the new iNat Next app slowing down. Besides accessing the debug menu and sending crash reports, how else can the community help to solve this problem?

It has gotten much much better for me. It was nearly unusable a couple of months ago, but now it is much improved. It is not yet perfect though. I have found that it will at times get totally bogged down and when this happens I need to delete the app from my phone and re-install it. This is a pain, but I have to do it a lot less frequently so things are improving.

Hopefully this helps folks and can ameliorate some of the frustrations.

The slowness has been addressed repeatedly in this forum and in Bug Reports. It’s not perfect but the problem often revolves around too much cached material. The usual–if frustrating–solution is often to just turn off the phone and turn it back on to clear the cache. If that doesn’t work, deleting and reinstalling the app usually works–again, not an optimal solution, but it can reduce the frustration while the programmers work on how to better optimize cache management.
