Why don't these observations show up in this project? - "Official" Topic

I replied to your email - it looked like you hadn’t added time zone data to the start and end dates.

I created a project for a bioblitz (I think its a collection project, but I can’t figure out how to verify it). Several project members have made observations that meet the criteria, but no observations have populated into the project. How can I get it to populate or how can I change it to a traditional project so that I can upload the observations myself? The link to the project is: MC Rockville Bioblitz · iNaturalist

Did you mean to set the quality grade requirement to casual?

I’ve looked at the FAQs on this issue and I still don’t understand why observations are not showing up. Please help. It’s a college activity.

As asked above - you want Captive / Cultivated not Wild?

One issue is that you did not define a time zone for your project’s start and end date/time, so the system doesn’t know what to do. It should look like this:

What happens if you make that change?

My bioblitz project has 0 observations listed even though project members participated 5 hours ago. The event shows up as “in progress”. I checked the potential explanations listed above and can’t find an answer in any of them. MC Rockville Bioblitz · iNaturalist

Either. Most are captive.

Yes, that did work! Thank you. I’m new to this, so sorry for sending a couple of messages.

Then you must change Quality Grade from Casual - which excludes anything Wild.

Hi all,
I set up 'Beached Birds" (https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/beached-birds) to gather all (dead) marine birds (taxonomic limitation) on beaches of maritime waters in the Western Hemisphere (super ugly, layered, geographic limitation).
The project is having problems picking up observations that I think fall within the parameters:
Some are my own observations: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/135003309
Some seem to fall in discreet geographies (Loons along the Gulf coast is one): https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/160283581

I’m guessing it’s my ugly geographies that are causing issues, but if anyone can explain/help what is going on, and how to fix it, I’d be much obliged.

Cheers,
Sea

It’s not in the Ecuador EEZ place for iNat: https://www.inaturalist.org/places/165237

Looks like you chose Alabama as an exception for your project, and this observation is in iNat’s boundary for Alabama.

Your place exclusion list has Forests of North and South America and both those observations are within that, so they’re being excluded.

compare your project’s date range requirements with the observation date of the observation.

Hello everyone. My project is here: https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/burris-park-outdoor-education-program. I’m wanting anything that is tagged with Burris Park as a location to appear in this project.

I recently added a bunch of observations and tagged Burris Park as the location, but none of the new content seems to appear in the project. Any assistance in correcting the data to show in the project would be appreciated. https://www.inaturalist.org/observations?place_id=any&user_id=teacherlutz&verifiable=any

Welcome to the forum!

The uncertainty circle (on the right below) must fit entirely within the bounding box of your place (on the left below).

Thanks so much, Jwidness.

Do I make the uncertainty circle larger, or is there a different way to identify the location on the photos so it matches the rectangular bounding box?

The boundary box is incorrect, but the only thing I can do on the “include places” box is click a pre-selected Burris Park, CA, US (open spaces). Is there an option to manually select what the boundary is?

Based on the place page for the park, it looks like the shape was imported many years ago. If you want a different shape for it, you’ll need to supply a kml file for the boundary.
There’s more information in this tutorial, but feel free to ask any follow up questions.

Thanks so much! The tutorials were very clear and I was able to update the boundaries of the project to accurately show the observations.
