Android app shows duplicate observations

Please fill out the following sections to the best of your ability, it will help us investigate bugs if we have this information at the outset. Screenshots are especially helpful, so please provide those if you can.

Android, iOS, Website): Android 10 on Huawei P30 Pro

App version number, if a mobile app issue (shown under Settings or About): 1.21.1 (468)

Screenshots of what you are seeing (instructions for taking a screenshot on computers and mobile devices: https://www.take-a-screenshot.org/): Attached

Description of problem (please provide a set of steps we can use to replicate the issue, and make as many as you need.): Occasionally, my Android app shows two entries for a single observation. The app shows duplicate observations, but if I look on the website there is only a single observation. It also does not affect the number of observations at the top of the app homepage.

I can’t replicate the behaviour, it seems to happen at random, but I don’t think it necessarily happens when the observation is recorded. For example: see the two screenshots I uploaded, taken just a few minutes apart. One shows two duplicates, the next one shows three. All of these observations were made days ago.

I see this all the time I submit through the android app. It may be there even after some time too. But it is not the in the website.

I have this problem occasionally. If you try and delete one it will remove the photo from the other. I sent logs but I guess I never made a bug report.

I have found that this happens in My Observations on the app when the upload process is interrupted. There are not two separate observations, but it displays them side by side. If you log out of the app and log back in, that seems to refresh the cache and remove these extra observations.

Yeah, looks like the issue is that one observation is being displayed multiple times, the observations are not actually being duplicated in our database.

I don’t think there’s much we can do without log files from the app. If/when this happens again, please send us log files. To send log files, go to the About tab in the app and tap three times on the version number. You will then have the option to email the log files to us.

Oh this was why I didn’t submit a report but submitted logs:
