On this forum, when we click links to inat observations, these links open in the app. This did not occur with the prior app (they opened in a web browser). Is this a setting? Does a user have choice?
for what it’s worth, inaturalist.org and affiliate site URLs will open up in the iNat Android app by default, and i assume that’s why you’re seeing this behavior with the iNat Next app. (links opening up in associated apps is a common thing in mobile nowadays.)
in Android, it’s possible to disable this functionality by app (in the app settings), and i assume there’s probably a setting in the browser that will open all links in the browser (for accessibility purposes maybe). that said, i think the easiest thing so that you can always pick what you want to happen is to just long press the link and select the option to open it up in another browser tab when that’s what you want to happen. i assume this all applies to iOS as well.
not sure what this is about. if this doesn’t happen when you use Safari, i would assume it’s a Brave issue.
